We all have two dates — and a dash in between.

MAKE THE DASH COUNT

About Dash of Joy

Most of us know the feeling. Someone we love is going through something hard and we want to show up — we just don't know how.

Dash of Joy was created for that moment.

Founded by Monique Smith in memory of her mother Yvonne, Dash of Joy is a nonprofit built on the belief that how we show up for one another is what gives our lives meaning.

We exist to bridge the space between compassion and action — making it possible for communities to care for each other in real, tangible ways during the moments that matter most.

MISSION

Between every birth date and every passing is a dash — a lifetime of moments, relationships, and acts of love. Dash of Joy was founded in memory of Yvone to make that dash mean something.

We help communities show up for one another transforming grief, hardship, and uncertainty into moments of real, tangible joy

What's Coming

Meet the Founder

Dash of Joy was founded by Monique Smith, inspired by a deep belief that even the smallest act of kindness can change someone’s day—or their life.

Rooted in personal loss, love, and legacy, Monique created Dash of Joy to honor the idea that what truly matters is how we show up for others. After years of volunteering and supporting individuals and her mother who was impacted by cancer and hardship, she felt called to build something bigger—something that could spread joy in tangible, lasting ways.

With a heart for service and a passion for making people feel seen and supported, Monique’s mission is simple: to create moments that matter, uplift others, and remind people they are never alone.
